Please continue to follow our channels for future updates.
July 15, 2026
OC Public Works will be conducting vegetation management within the San Juan Creek and Trabuco Creek channels to maintain safe and effective channel operations. Detours along the bike trail will be present and signage will be posted near the project area.
WHAT
Maintenance activity will include removal of non-native plant species and cutting vegetation (small trees, shrubs, and brush) down to ground level. Soil, roots and channel surfaces will not be disturbed except where necessary for the removal of non-native, invasive vegetation. All cut material will be removed from the channel to ensure the facility remains clean and unobstructed.
No excavation or herbicide application will occur.
Important details:
- This maintenance activity has been reviewed and approved by State and Federal regulatory agencies.
- A biological monitor will be on site daily to ensure that nesting birds and any other sensitive biological resources are not harmed during this essential maintenance.
- The bikeway will remain open except for intermittent closures as needed to accommodate movement of equipment and materials. Signs will be posted for available detour.
